reoccurance of groin injury (help)

got a bad groin strain about 3 weeks ago, it seems to happen this time of year every season for the past 3 years in my left leg.

it was so bad 3 weeks ago, i couldn't even sneeze without a shooting pain from the left upper inner thigh where the groin (abductor) is right through my hip.

now granted before my match during the warm up i felt a niggle there but nothing too serious and me being me ignored it because i wanted to play as most people do.

during the game about 30 mins into the first half i couldn't even run 3/4 quarter pace never mind a full on sprint so i had to come off and haven't done a tap since as im resting it, i didn't even chance going to the gym to do my upper body.

iv been applying heat and ice 2 or 3 times per day, it looks to be healing up slowly but surely the icey weather and snow didnt help it, i pulled it a few times walking on the ice but i had to go out lol, i feel that the ice may have set me back a bit.

but my question is does the weather play a part in it? i always get the injury when it starts to get cold and i never suffer from it during the more warmer months.

does anyone suffer from the same injury this time of year? and how do you prevent it?

p.s i always warm up/cool down and stretch properly, so i cant see how thats the problem, and i figured if i have a weak abductor/pelvis why does it only happen this time of year in the same leg?

    cheers

I'd recommend you seek professional help with this, rather than rely on advice from this board.

A groin injury needs to be treated with care - otherwise, it can become a persistant problem. Look at all the footballers, who despite all the expertise at their disposal, can have their seasons ruined by groin injuries.

Best of luck with your recovery.
