Getting a post card to canvas

Hey gang, the sister has a postcard she was given that means a lot to her but she wants the image recreated as a small canvas print. I think smaller than A4 would do.

The problem I have is where would I get the image that I would give to the person to do the print? There is a crowd in Derry I am told that can do it but I don't know how I can get a good enough file image to give to them.

The image is of a water lily painting and was painted by an artist called Jo Self and appeared on the cover of a book called Flowers.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks.

Whatever about copyright issues - and there strictly speaking are some - if the image has been printed by off-set litho you will not get a really good scan as there will be dither. Dither is when the four colour pattern coincides with the scan and you get a kind of pattern which is very unsightly. It is possible with a good scanning program to get rid of some of it, but it will never be perfect.

Its a bit unlikely you will find a professional set up that will be prepared to scan it because of the copyright issues and also because it will not be possible to get it perfect - they would just see it as a job that was more trouble than it was worth.

You might get lucky and find a small printing firm who might be prepared to give it a go, you will just have to look them up locally.

It might be easier to contact the artist and see if they have a print for sale.
