Hi, I was just wondering if people bring any final year projects or dissertations to the interviews with them.

I am attending an interview for a graduate engineering position and am unsure if I should bring my leather bound copies of my final year projects. I have 3 from 2 degrees which are relevant to varying levels to the position I am applying for. I got high marks for them all but the1 which isnt really relevant is by far the most recent and so not sure.

I don't think the interviewer will have time to read your project report in the interview so I don't think it is necessary to bring them. I would expect you however to be able to discuss your project in detail, and demonstrate taht your work meets some of the attibrutes they are seeking in an employee.

Nothing worse than interviewing a graduate and they're incapable of describing the topic of their final year project, never mind the technical details!

Only unless they request it, more than likely they would have asked for it before the interview. Chances are its what you know about the project and talking about it is what the interviewers will really be interested in! Showing off your qualities, knowledge in the area(s) and your skills. What you brought into the project whether individual or group project etc. What you learnt from it. They will probably ask you a series of questions about your projects anyway as they would have played a big part in your college course. I think knowing your results and knowing about the project is enough for them without having to show your projects in a file. If you are concerned ring and ask if you need to bring your projects, if not bring them just in case.

Ye where both right, brought the two oldest ones with me to look over on the journey to the interview so i would remember what they were about.

didnt bring my bag into the room and was never asked.

    interview went very well.
discussing the projects allowed me to demonstrate or back up my skills and best personal attributes, and took up most of interview so the time passed quickly and didnt struggle for answers

    thanks for the great advice
