    Hi

So I sold a camera on ebay on the 1/12/10 it was delivered on the 9th. Just today the guy, he sends me a message telling me he doesn't have it and an "A. Blackmore" has with. I checked on an post tracking and an A. Blackmore does have it.

Now if ill be honest I knew I would have a problem with this guy straight away when I told him I was working two days after the sale and could post it on the 3rd day(which I was stated in the ad 3 days within paying for shipping) He was just smart about it saying "well I paid you straight away so I expected you to ship it straight away, I want you to pay for the quickest postage possible" Which I did, ended up paying nearly €40.

So an post can't give me delivery records outside of the UK and I'm wondering can I call Royal Mail and check the address with them? If not is there anything else I can do?

Im 110% sure the address was right on the package as I got my brother to write it on the box(his handwriting is better than mine :P)

    Thanks.

Did you send the camera to the buyers paypal address? If you did and you have proof of postage then you are in the clear.

Not sure what else you can do.

Check and find UK postcodes and adddresses here if you want see if the address was OK

Edit> Even gives you a map.

The postcode he gave me with paypal matches his street/map.

Get a "certificate of postage" from an post. This shows the address that the item was sent to. If you have this, the address matches the buyer's address, and there is online delivery confirmation with a signature, you cant lose a claim.

Do I get this from the post office I posted the item from? Or do I ring them?

    Thanks!

Incorrect. You must prove that the buyer received it - proof of postage means nothing.

Id chance ringing them first. I actually have never had to get this document; I just know that you will need it if you need to prove the delivery location in a paypal/ebay dispute.

You could be in trouble here, because if the receipt you have with the tracking number on it doesn't have the recipients address printed on it to (which they don't), then a claim for failed delivery will go against you. If the insurance on the package doesn't cover it, then you won't get anything back that way either.

Yes, hence why I said the below.

I had a similar experience with An Post when returning a package to a seller...I used registered post and had a tracking no. That is seemingly insufficient for PayPal, as they say I could have sent the package to my sister in UK. I learned two lessons, 1.Take a photo of the package on the counter in the Post office and 2) get a written proof of the address the package is going to, a tracking no. is quite useless and facilitates the post office as they do not have to waste time writing destination addresses. So, how was my problem resolved....I found a kind person in An Post and they contacted Royal Mail who confirmed who had signed for the package at the other end...and it was no other than my seller and they provided me with a copy of the signature and this in turn was sent to paypal who in the end refunded me in total. The item was damaged and not as described and I subsequently saw it relisted and sold to another poor sod. Ebay is not for the feint of heart and strictly a buyer beware area.

Just called An Post there. She was surprised that the "A. Blackmore" came up on anpost.ie and not her computer. She told to me fill out a 459? claim online and to ring back the next day with a reference number I get.

I actually cant find this claim section for some reason, is it just an email I have to send out?
