    Hi guys,

I've only recently started to shop online and LOVEEE the dresses on modcloth :)

Just wondering, I read somewhere that you get charged tax based on weight. If I was to order, say, 4 dresses, does anyone know how much that would be roughly?

I hate ordering from America because of this added cost, but the dresses are just gorgeous. Also if I ordered today, would the dresses be here on time for Christmas?

    Thanks :D

no, you get charged on the value of what you buy. so if you spend $200 or something, you'll be paying some hefty taxes. it depends on whether or not customs and excise check you package really, but i would assume you're going to have to pay it and find out what the rate is (probably 21% or something near that).

also, usps hasn't the best reputation, unless you pay extra for express shipping, i wouldn't imagine it'd be here before christmas. you never know though, but i wouldn't count on it.

If you spend over €23/25 (not sure which sorry) you are liable for charges. I know janeybabe on this forum buys a lot of stuff from there so she might be able to advise you.

I love that site, the dresses are so pretty. I'm actually glad I don't have a credit card because I'd probably order 1 of everyone of their dresses! :)

Hi OP, I love Modcloth as well but have never actually bought from them, student poverty etc. :o

Anyway, AFAIK, they calculate your shipping based on the weight of your items, so if you have them in your basket and take them all to the checkout, (you can stop before you have to pay) you press the estimate shipping button and they will give you a price. Could be risky with customs and I'd say you probably wont have them before Xmas as most American sites take 2 weeks at least to deliver.

    Hope that helped!

I've ordered from them a few times and never been caught by customs but the shipping cost is ridiculously high :(
