    Hi All

Just looking for advice as to what is the best programme to become a runner, - am by no means a runner but would like to aim to run 10K by the end of march 2011 & lose about 5kg in the process. I do cardio twice a week for 90 mins each session & am walking 5 though not running yet - is this goal realistic? Any advice welcome :)

    guest24, imo its very realistic.

There's a couch to 5k programme which a lot of newbies use to get them started.

I'd recommend you just get out there and start running. When I started I used to run between two points, 2-3 times a week, and over the next few weeks just try to run a little further. Don't get too hung up on programmes at the beginning. I never measured distance, just being able to run a little further each week was an achievement for me.

Perhaps do that for 3-4 weeks and then look at the c25k.

This is pretty good for podcasts, its used for the C25K program, it has music and has voice prompts for when you're meant to walk and run. have done 6 weeks of it and find it pretty handy instead of using a stop watch to time my walks and runs.
