W203 - wing mirrors stolen.

Some lowlife stole my wing mirrors

O4 C class - W203 ... neat job, not a scratch on the car, and snipped the electrics too. I'm guessing these are stolen to order.

Who ever took them did it in broad daylight today, between 12 and 2 pm, on my own driveway. Would have walked past a zafira and a punto to get to my car.

I need the car on Monday morning for work ... any suggestions on getting replacement parts ASAP?

You're not going to get them cheaply and by Monday, but sure you knew that already! I'd try www.micksgarage.ie for starters, and www.ebay.co.uk. On the upside, mirrors are very easy to fit, and you can always have the covers painted to match the car later. You might give GSF a call too: http://www.gsfcarparts.com/dublinsouth.html. Finally, i'd call a couple of MB dealerships. They'll probably quote silly money, but sure you never know with these things.

Edit: MicksGarage have them, but they're €440 for the pair: http://www.micksgarage.ie/Search.aspx?Keyword=w203+mirror

There are a few scrapped models at www.partfinder.ie. Might be the cheapest option for you.

Yeah ... breakers yard it is. Nice surprise in the mouth of Christmas.

Narked all day by this ... not just the scumbag who stole them, but the unprincipled tools who "order" them.

If you go with GSF, order from the UK, got BMW parts from them before, 40%(including delivery) cheaper and 2 days delivery.

Happened my Uncle years ago with a Carina II. I also know of a guy who went to start his Astra VXR, nothing happened, opened the bonnet to find the engine and gearbox gone. Some people just don't give a sh!t

It happened in an underground secluded car park, I'd imagine the job could be done rather quickly if you know what you're at

True i wouldn't put anything past the fookers.
Shared complex parking will always attract them for the casualness of the occupancy in them.
Hope you get it sorted cheaply OP,not a nice time of the year to be incurring costs for the likes of that.

Will the insurance cover a stolen engine and gearbox?

I'd imagine it would be covered on your policy the same as any other theft from the vehicle.

You could try OTTO http://www.otto.ie/iopen24/ or GSF car parts http://www.gsfcarparts.com/

Are you sure that's all the damage done? I was just thinking it'd be much easier to remove mirrors with access to the interior. You don't want to pay for the mirrors yourself only to find that there's other damage necessitating an insurance claim.

Pretty sure ... the car was locked, I had the keys on me, and there's no damage to the interior, doors or windows that I can see, and I've looked closely.

Apparently, the mirrors can be easily removed from the outside, by snapping a spring-clip, removing three screws and snipping the wires.

Good. Just make sure all door locks & switchgear work - ie that no cables between door & body have been cut.

Yeah ... I thought about that. The central locking & windows appear to run from a different loom, lower down in the door, set into the hinge.

The locks work, the windows work ... everything else seems to work ... especially the onboard diagnostic which is advising me to Check Signal Indicator Lamp (L) and Check Signal Indicator Lamp (R) ... or else 2 MALFUNCTIONS

    :(
