NEW PANGOO TV

    Hi,

My folks bought a Pangoo MPEG 4 tv lately. They managed to hook up the aerial cable to it and tune in the channels etc. Then they asked me to connect up the DVD, video, FTA box etc to it, and here my problems began.

There are no scart connections on the TV, at least not like I'm used to seeing.

There are 2 no inputs on the back marked scart1 and scart 2 but they are small connections like USB or HDMI but I think they are different.

There was one lead with the TV that converts ordinary scart to this cosmaller input on the TV.

Does anyone know what these smaller connections are called as I want to search the net for a few more of these converter leads.

    Thanks

    Photo?

Is it circular with 8 holes or small rectangular?

    byte

    Is that it?

Quite expensive and you'll need to contact the seller for delivery to Ireland.

Seems some Samsungs need some sort of adaptor too.

Which model is it? I've looked at the user manuals for all the TV models on the Pangoo website and all have either one or two regular SCART connections on the back of the TV.
Putting proprietary connections may be cheaper for the manufacturer, but it throws the cost onto the consumer.

I would have thought that to get the usual CE compliance marks etc., the manufacturer would have to put standard connectors?
    Poor show either way.

That looks like the animal all right, all though I cannot see the small end of that lead there.

I think from memory the connections on the Tv have 3 90 degree corners and the last one is rounded, as fair as I remember.

I have no pic and unfortunately i can't get one now.

Why are the inputs on the TV called scart

Why are the inputs on the TV called scart

SCART = Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs (Radio and Television Receiver Manufacturers' Association)

    From Wikipedia
SCART (from Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs, Radio and Television Receiver Manufacturers' Association) is a French-originated standard and associated 21-pin connector for connecting audio-visual (AV) equipment together. It is also known as Péritel (especially in France, where the term SCART is practically unknown), 21-pin EuroSCART (Sharp's marketing term for an attempt to market the connector in the Asian region), Euroconector[1] or EuroAV. In America, another name for SCART is EIA Multiport (an EIA interface).

Am I right to call them mini scarts....anyone know where to get them at reasonable price

There is no such thing I ever heard of as "mini" SCART. It's just a proprietary choice by the TV maker to save space.

8 pin mini-DIN (no RGB) are also used and adaptors exist.

I don't see any adaptor other than the one Byte found.

Yeah, there's adaptors for the slim LED Samsungs. I guess the thinness meant sacrificing Scart sockets in favour of stupid adaptors.
