Snow belts, etc (NOT TYRES)

I did a search for snow belts in the forum, and the only hit was the 30 page thread which seems primarily about snow tyres.

So I'm wondering about alternatives to snow/winter tyres, anyone have experience using what's available, what's good, what's bad.

I saw an advertisement a couple of weeks ago on an Italian TV channel, and the snow belts looked fairly good (but commercials tend to do that anyway, even if the product is sh!t).

The product looked very like the Jeko belts shown here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt0tDEbp3-Y , but I think it was called something like "Put-It" or something vaguely similar. Maybe it was the same product, just with a different localised brand on it.

Anyone use these before, or indeed if you've used other products, were they any good, or a waste of money?
