I was on 1 of the UK darts forums and the breaking news is that it seems Tony Green will not be commentating on the upcoming Lakeside World Championship on BBC and has been replaced. Link to story www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/2011/wk2/sat.shtml#sat_darts1

Green was a good commentator in his day but the past few years some of his commentary has been embarrassing to listen to! I'm not surprised if he has been replaced.

Probably a step in the right direction, although he could have been kept on in some form i think.

The problem is that the problems with the BDO run far deeper than just the commentary and need a radical change.

No Disrespect to Tony. he has had a great career in the commentary box but his retirement is long overdue.

I was reading one of those forums (a poster has an avatar of a headstone with Greens face on it) and there were people claiming that ITV4 have no deal for the Players Championship in January and that BBC could take over.

It's on the BDO twitter page that Tony Green is currently ill. Hopefully He'll make a full recovery. I'd still class Green a better commentator any day than that loudmouth Sid Waddell!

I read lately that ITV4 had signed up for another 3 years.
