ABS not working on 1998 March

I have a 1998 March which I've had almost 11 years. I haven't been driving the car the last two weeks and took the battery out to charge as its in the car since 2003.

I put the battery in yesterday and drove it yesterday and today.

When I came home yesterday there was still a bit of ice on the drive and when I braked on it the car slid on but what struck me after I parked the car and went into the house was the brake pedal wasn't pulsating like it does with the ABS working.

So today at work the car park is still covered in ice so I tried it a number of times and no ABS kicking in.

The dash ABS light is still working as it always has....comes on when I turn on the ignition and goes off a few seconds later.

Anyone any ideas on what I sould be looking for as a problem?

    Cheers!

How fast where you going when you jammed on to test it? Most ABS systems will not work below around 10mph

I was going below that speed alright. I also have a Laguna and my father has a BMW and they both work at crawling speed.

If the check light is working it is unlikely you have a fault.

Try it at a slightly faster speed on gravel somewhere safe

Cheers Lads, panic over......I got it up to 20kmh on the snow packed car park and slammed on the brakes and I got the vibrating pedal so all is well! :)

Any other car I've driven...'97 Laguna, '06 E90 and '05 Focus II all kick in at crawling speed so I just presumed the micra did too!
