The district court fine

    Hi,
I am wondering how to approach this problem. I was sent a penalty of €150 from the district court a couple of days ago. This is the first I have heard of such action, ie I have never been informed of a complaint against me. The penalty notice just gives the name of the complaintant and not what it is for.

The letter has my name on it but the wrong address so it is likely if other mail was sent I never got it. I got this letter as the post man knows my name.

    two questions:
    1) How do I find out what this is about
    2) As it is addressd wrong and I have no previous knowledge of such action does this have any impact on the validity of the fine.

I appreciate any feedback and am aware any answers are an opinion only.
    Thanks

Contact the District Court Office and get a copy of the order. There is provision in the District Court Rules to set aside a matter where there was no notice.
