What's the easiest way to gain a new subject?

I have the Grad Dip but I would like to add English to my existing subject, and as it was not part of my primary degree it seems that I need to do an English degree from scratch. How would I go about this? I presume I wouldn't be funded to go back to full-time college to do it, and I would probably have to do it on an evening/distance learning basis. What institutions would be recognised by the teaching council to do this?

Ok thanks for that, and one more question that may sound very stupid, but can you just do the 6 modules that pertain to your teaching requirements or do you have to do a full degree?

As you have a degree already you can get an exemption from between 2 to 4 modules in Oscail depending on what you have studied before. That would apply if you registered to complete the full BA

It's hard to predict what the Teaching Council would accept but it would seem that as you already have a degree, then just the english modules would be acceptable to qualify you to teach english. The Teaching Council asks that english be 30% (i think) of your degree so if you did 6 modules, that would be 50%.

Does anybody know if Oscail has Irish as an option in their BA? I'd very much like to do that via distance learning and no other third level in Ireland appears to offer this.
