if i purchase a new ps3 will this be on the console already or does it have to be connected to internet and downloaded from there

will be purchasing the ps3 at same time as tv
had one before time for one again

You need version 3.30 for 3D games and 3.50 for 3D Blu-rays, 3.30 or higher is almost certain to be anything you buy new and i know people who got 3.50 on their consoles recently so you have a chance to get it.

If you need to download it then it's 130MB and can be gotten from the Playstation website and put on a USB memory stick, if you internet connection is slow go somewhere and download it then copy the file to a memory stick to use later at home.

Just on a side not you'd want to have it connected to the internet all the time anyways or you'll miss out on a load of extra features.

i have my internet with eircom
would i need to have it connected with ethernet cable or can it be connected wireless like laptop to the modem ?
what type extra features do you mean for being conneced ?
    cheers

You can connect with Ethernet or wireless, the PS3 is actually pretty good with wireless.

    i have a 1mb download speed
checked this on http://www.speedtest.net/ semms within reason of what i should be getting at best 0.92 mb/s i assume this is ok for on line gaming not something id be too mad doing but would like to certainly give it a go

is there anything extra needed to go wireless with ps3

no, the wireless is built into the hardware so no problems there.

I was going to get a 3D TV recently but went instead for more inches and standard HD. 47" Samsung is awesome. I was only going to get a 40" with 3D instead. I dont think this is going to interest me for a while yet.

List of 3D games is limited as well :

Can you turn the 3D bit off and just watch it as normal tellie. Quite surpriswed at the 1200 euro price tag, kinda in my price range now.

    Yes you can.

I was thinking about getting one but I'm pretty sure the technology for 3D tv's without the glasses is only a year or two away. I saw a prototype that was very impressive 2 years ago so I'm happy to wait. I'd hate to buy one now and have to wear the poncy glasses instead of waiting and being able to watch it with as many people as possible

It won't say on the box and the staff won't know if from it either, you'll need to check but it probably will be 3.50 and it's a 130MB download that you can get now on your PC and have ready to use with a memory stick.

Not really impressed by the whole 3D gaming thing. It feels like you are watching a game that is being played in a box. It's impressive first but I find after a while just turning 3D off and playing normally.

I'm not a expert on this whole 3D Thing but i'm not interested in it at all(although I'm going to buy a 3DS but only for the games) but I don't get why Sony & Microsoft aren't trying to do proper 1080p games. Uncharted 2 is amazing but its still only 720p imagine what you could do with that extra resolution although I'm doubtful the current consoles could pull it off.

have used a few 3dtvs now, and the only one id recommend is the sharp quattro 3d range

Back of my copy says its 720p both it & Uncharted look class but aren't 1080p.I'd like to see them do that rather than 3D which i'd say less than 1% of PS3 Owners have.

yes within my price range now too well im stretching the budget a bit but i dont mind lots of reviews i read say we are a while away from 3d without glasses but thats easily understood if you google it a bit.

    http://www.did.ie/Product/DCL-50andq...6900/18098/447
in shop today and this model with hdmi cable and samsung blue-ray dvd player and shreck 1,2,3,4 in 3d and two pairs of glasses €1290

The price of the ones without glasses is just disgraceful... Think the 20inch one was costing something like $2900 and 12inch something like $1400

In fairness, all new technology starts like that.

Wait two years and they'll be giving them away with happy meals :D

seems very strict in terms of viewing distance and angle you can view it in.
i doubt it will happen in the near future no more than flying cars in 10 or 20 years time ! hell never mind flying cars doubt we will all be driving 100% electric cars in 20 years time
