Hi, I was wondering if it against the rules to give presents to lecturers?
And also if anyone is doing it this year

    Thanks, :-)

No not at all, great idea in fact. Word of advice though, make sure you do it in class so everyone in the class can see. If you were to give presents in private it might be interpreted as a bribe. And make sure you wrap them so they are in fact gifts, otherwise they might also think it's a bribe and you don't want that.

Also, what class are you in? I have a sudden urge to join your class for the next week.

Any ideas for suitable pressies? Seems a bit embarassing in front of everyone, will definitly wrap, was thinking of my supervisor who has been really helpful.

Terrible idea. Do you really think a Lecturer is going to accept student "gifts". Not only are you opening up to the possibility of legal implications(depending on what you gift), but it's not in their duties to take gifts, especially on campus. Just donate the stuff to the SVP, I am sure they will aprreciate it.

i'd disagree, if they go above and beyond for you, maybe a gift will encourage them to keep it up, god knows a good lecturer is hard to find these days

Exactly, because this statement must apply to every faculty in DIT. It's not an accpeted norm, you can take that as a given.
