    Hi
I wonder do we have these in Ireland?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunken_lane

I would think that we do have them given that we have a somewhat similar history/ settlement/landuse patterns to England. Anyone know if there has been any research done on them in Ireland? Historical Geographers in Universities maybe? or Archaeologists’? Ordnance Survey maybe?

In my own area there was an old road into Dublin that ran across farmland, it dated from mediaeval times( perhaps earlier) but was ploughed under in the 60’s. I’m just wondering if some of the extant ditches in the area ( 8-10 feet deep ) are in fact Holloways?

    Cheers.
