Rodney Goggins today made a fantastic 147 break during his third match in the World Amateur C'ships which are currently being held in Syria.
A remarkable achievement by the Wexford man.

Trailing 4-2. Although they have his name wrong they could have the score wrong too!.

Goggins just lost 7-4 in his semi final match. However he still has the third place play off to contend. What ever happens he's had a good tournament which included his historic 147.

Yea i know Rodney, i live down in wexford, hes an awesome player and really shud be back on the pro circuit with his talents, he said himself, he got nervous while playin pro and it really affected his game, if he can overcome this, he is a top 32 player for sure.

Goggins won his 3rd place play off match today. He really should give the pro circuit another go although this time he will have to try and get in by means of the new qualifying school or hope to be given a wildcard.

I was told by a former Irish champion that Rodney would be the best in the country given time! This was when he was 16. He has certainly fulfilled that in that I reckon he is the best amateur by a country mile!

Makes me wonder what it takes to make it in professional snooker. A very talented and commited guy has not made the TV stages of a snooker tournament!

What age is Rodney now? Would he still have it in him to develop his confidence? Maybe he should give Mark Joyce's coach a shout ;)

I wont say Rodeny is past it, hes 33/34? But I doubt he will ever break the top 32 at that age. Pity, because of all the Irish amateurs around when the game was big in Ireland in the mid nineties I thought he would be the one to break through!
