Anyone know of any specialists in 'natural' insulation, as in using organic, not oil based materials?

Sheeps wool or else hay based insulation.

watched "Grand Designs" earlier on and both the above were used in an eco friendly house.

    Hello Gary,

During our renovations at one of our rentals we tried a local company which advertises to be Green. You can find their product at spray foam insulation. I used them a few time times and really like their service and products. Check out their site and you will be pleased.

    Good luck.

Cellulose fibre insulation is good for various reasons.

    1. It is a natural fibre, coming from recycled paper, no oil or plastic used.
    2. It makes good use of a waste product.
    3. It has a good U value and good breathing characteristics.
    4. Fire retardant and also repellant to pests, mould etc.
    5. Much cheaper than sheepwool.
    6. Fills the space completely (have you ever seen any other insulation fitted without any gaps?)
    7. Does not collapse like fibreglass.
    8. Soon to be made in Ireland!

Here's two more I found on Gooooooogle.

I'm not sure if natural products have Irish Agrément certification for the U-values quoted but that may not be particularly important to you.

All products must have Irish Agrément certification.
    Cellulose certainly does.
