I've been told that after Christmas, I'm going to be put on a 3 day work week. I know I can get the dole for 3 days per week since I'm working part time. I was just wondering what I have to do now. Do I have to wait until after Christmas or do I apply now for it with a letter from my employers saying I'll be on a three day week?

Also, some weeks I may only end up working 1 or 2 days. Do I need a letter from my boss each week to say what days I worked and if I only worked 1 or 2 days, do I get 4/5 days worth of the dole or still just 3?

    Thanks

You cannot make your claim until your first day of unemployment. So the first day you don't work that you normally would have.
You will need a letter from your employer, proof of ID and proof of address to make your claim.
You will be sending in dockets on a weekly basis to say which days you work and which days you don't. You don't need a letter from your employer each week. You just mark it on the docket, and they do random checks then to make sure you are being truthful about the days.
You get paid depending on what you work - you work 3, you get paid for 3. You work 1, you get paid for 5. Work 4 and you don't get paid at all.
