3G and €100, largely. The are two models of iPad - one Wifi only and one with 3G data much lime your phone. You will need to get a micro-SIM from a carrier for this to work.

so you'd need a contract for the 3g model is it with O2?

Not really...you can buy the 3g ipad, and use it over wifi only...if you wish, but it defeats the purpose!

You can then sign a 30 day contract with o2 for 15gb of data just for use on your ipad with the required micro sim!

If I'm right the wifi only iPad has no gps. It's only in the 3G one

My primary use for the iPad is for reading, checking email and net surfing so i'll be mainly using it at home, not very often on the go

I think i saw this in a o2 store before , is so o2 have little wifi dongle that transmit a wifi signal around a small area so the wifi version will orkk with that, so will your itouch phone laptop... Whatever else you have....

If you've a smart phone with a data plan you could tether it with the iPad which is what I do. Or as last poster said get a Mifi device for around 70 euro and tether to it for data on the go. No gps though.

    I have a 32GB Wifi iPad.

When I'm out of a wifi hotspot, I use my Nokia E72, and a programme called Joikuspot which turns the phone into a Wifi broadband router. If you're with Meteor, they don't charge any extra for connecting the iPad using your current data bundle.
Beats the crap out of paying 100 euro extra for a 3G iPad.

In that case save yourself Eur 100 and buy the Wi-Fi only model. If you do take the iPad out and about there are lots of restaurants bars and coffee shops with free Wi-Fi so you won't be stuck. Or as the previous poster said, if you have a smartphone you may be able to install s/w to turn it into a Wi-Fi hotpost, I also use Joikuspot (on a Nokia E55) and it gets my iTouch connected anywhere I can't find free Wi-Fi.

Do you know if Joikuspot is supported by the Nokia N95 8GB?

Just bear in mine your phone battery will take a hammering. But I've hear nothing but good reports about Joikuspot.

If you not overly keen on the iPad's at the moment, I'd wait. Its rumored the replacement is due in April 2011. Which will probably have the usual e.g. Better battery, better screen, probably a camera and possibly USB support.
