Can anyone explain it? I have never seen it in any supermarket, even the massive mega tesco's like Clearwater and Maynooth.

Why is it only available in pharmacies and I suppose opticians? It is barely more than saline solution is it not?

In the US you can get it in any Supermarket and often in a convenience store.

I personally don't care but my wife wears contacts and often forgets to bring solution when we are away from home.

    Boots stock it.

    That's a pharmacy though.

OP, Tesco used to have it in a couple of branches, I haven't had to buy any in almost a year though so it could be different now.

Ireland and the UK have unnecessarily strict laws with regards to eyecare though so that could have something to do with it

Yeah I was wondering why though... Just because it does not seem like it could be in any way dangerous so why is it that only pharmacies have it is beyond me at the moment.

I imagine a tube of toothpaste is far more dangerous considering fluoride is a poison.

It used to be supplied to the big supermarkets - they even had their own brand versions (same solution different label), the regulations are tight - it is considered a medical device - there were some scares & recalls in the past few years they may have stopped stocking it due to that.

You confuse me because I double checked that I had seen it in Tesco Maynooth and had.

Was it on the shelves or at the pharmacy in Tesco?

Anyway I was more thinking of the average supermarket like Supervalu etc and not a supersized Tesco like Maynooth, Clearwater etc despite my mentioning them :D. For instance I originally posted this after we were in Supervalu, Palmerstown which by Supervalu standards is very large and my wife was complaining about Supermarkets not stocking it.

Also is it Tesco own brand or do they have proper brands?
Thanks for the Tesco pointer though, good to know all is not lost if no pharmacy is open.

So is Oxygen, which is carcinogenic. So I guess you are going to stop breathing too yeh? Nice to know you don't use toothpaste though! Oh please stop plastering the streets with your stupid stickers.

OP - Tesco have own brand in the UK. However it is a medical product and all I can think is that it simply is not worthwhile getting it certified for such a small market as Ireland. The "brand" names will stick with pharmacies for the higher prices....

They are feckin everywhere (particularily black and white version with lots of text but no contact details). Basically if you don't like a govt policy you plaster/litter the city centre with whatever you feel like.
