Are we entitled to any benefit?

Hello, I am 62 years old, born in Derry but lived in England most of my life. I have moved to live in Donegal with my husband who gets a benefit from England for long term illness. We intend to stay here as life is not so hectic and we really love it here.

The problem is that we are finding it very expensive, especially heating etc. and have been told that it is possible to claim some benefits here because of the fact of the benefit paid to my husband. I have also been told that I may be able to claim a pension here.

Can anyone help with this? I have looked on the government web sites and it appears that this is possible but just wondering if anyone has any personal experience of this and how to go about it.

    Many thanks

Do you mean claim a uk/NI pension and recieve it while living in Ireland ? Or claim a republic of Ireland pension despite not being born here or paying into our state pension for your working life ?
