Benching form...

    Hey Guys,

I need some help/advice with my benching form. I lift ok when I'm lifting comfortable weight, my problem is that when I'm lifting max or trying to lift a bit heavier the bar seems to come up slanted.

I mean that my left arm seems to be able to lift and my right arm stagnates and it's a real effort to push it up. I have a guy spotting me and it's never gone as far as he has to intervene for fear of it toppling over but it's something I feel I need to correct to enable me to lift heavier weight and so I don't do myself an injury. It's weird cos my left arm is my weaker arm.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.......hope my problem makes sense to you all!!!

your left tricep may be weaker..but it's a secondary muscle being worked along with your shoulder, the main mover being the chest so the imbalance may be there....try using dumbbells instead to ensure both sides are doing their share

this tends to happen, your strong arm takes all the weight so your weaker one has an easier job of locking out, try and get you form perfect wit lighter weights and concentrate on lifting hard wit you left arm, dumbells are also good for working out imbalances

Cheers for the tips guys, I think I'm going to use dumbbells for a couple of weeks and then go back to the benching to see if it improves.
