I wonder will many people reject E & Y for other offers?

shouldnt they at least tell me the outcome, rather than string me along just to drop me

To be fair they're not the best at getting back to people.

Why would they reject E&Y for other offers?

Surely all the money is the same and it comes downs to the best "feel" that people get!

Not 100% sure I'd go along with that.
Reputation and work conditions will obviously affect peoples choices.
Also remember that hr/partners sell the place during the milkround.
It's probably a totally different story if and when you start work.

Have a look through the threads for your answer.

No overtime policy, worse reputation etc.

I rejected them in favour of others anyway

Worse reputation my backside. Its the sesond largest a/c firm on the planet.

Great opportunity for anyone. Graduates arent qualified to judge which firm is better than any other.

It's third, behind Deloitte and PwC and ahead of KPMG.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion; I've heard the worst stories from people I know personally about E&Y, then about KPMG and less so about PWC (excluding the obvious current scandal) and Deloitte, but I dont have any personal experience with them and beyond the unavoidable issue of a no overtime policy (I realise the other 3 arent perfect, but you get some of those hours back, and there is at least a system) I'm sure there are people who have had good experiences in E&Y and vice versa in all Big 4 firms.
