Lost a stone and a half...but now my face is really thin!

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone one could give me some advice...I had a little boy about six months ago and have worked really hard since to get back to a weight that I'm happy at. Before I had my baby I would've ate healthyish but not held back on junk food etc (would have had pizza, chips occassionally but would have ate a lot of fruit and veg too) and would have only walked or did the occassional sit up. Now I've been eating really healthily (wholegrains, fruit, veg, little red meat, only turkey, chicken, pulses etc) and also doing some running and strength training in the gym.

I've lost slightly over a stone in total and I feel healthier now than ever before and I'm in the best shape of my life lol. Only thing is even though I'm not back to my pre-birth weight, infact a few pounds over, my face has really thinned out. I always did have a thinnish face before but it looked ok, now I look too thin in the face (even though I'm a size 10 not a size 4 lol). My mum even asked me if I'd been ill the other day as I looked 'gaunt' in the face  :(.

Is it my new diet, because it's lower in carbs that has done this and is there anything I can do to effectively fatten my face without putting on weight or stuffing my face with pizza, lol?

fair play on the weight loss, I was in the same boat in the sense I lost a lot and my face looks thin now, people sometimes comment that it looks too thin as well!

problem is with fat loss you cant really dictate where you lose it and where you put it on!

I wouldnt have a clue how to fill out your face more sorry!

It's just really annoying, because I'm about 3 pounds heavier now than I was before yet I feel thinner and my face is a lot thinner. I'm wondering if it's just because I have less body fat now than before? Congrats on the weight loss too!

If your body fat is definitely the same you may have just lost muscle (I've no idea if the face usually stands to lose much of that though...)

Fair play to you for not actually aiming for having a 'thin-looking' face like some silly people might.

I'm always interested in these situations where fat loss does not occur in an evenly distributed way, would love to see someone with a solution that actually works. I'm guessing you'll be told to change your ratio of macronutrients anyway (probably adjust carbs) but I dunno what'd work, myself.

Same here...lost weight,am toned and fit, not underweight for my height, feel great but my face looks gaunt or "like a hungry bird" as my sister puts it. When I visit my father he always drags the bathroom scales out (and I'm 39!!)to make sure I am the weight I say I am cos the "hungry face" makes him think I'm suffering from an eating disorder or on some Californian diet!!
Like others have said, it's the way it is...how can you stop the weight from leaving one part of your body and not another ie. my thighs, tummy??
The best thing to do is feel good about what you have achieved and smile a lot. I feel happier about myself now and that can be seen in my expression and smile, gaunt look or not!! I dress better and wear more colourful clothes rather than hiding under my once staple black and find a bit of blush or bronzer help to liven up the face. But the most important thing is the smile and energy coming through.
