TRV rad not coming on

All the upstairs rads have trvs. One of them is no longer coming on when the others are on. The pipe to the rad is warm.
There is no heat in the rad, even at the bottom of it
    .

Does this sound like the trv is broken? Is it a diy job to fix? I'd like to fix it myself if possible.

Screw off the head of the TRV and see does the rad heat then. It'll be obvious then if thats the problem.

When you remove the head give the little diddy in the centre of the valve a gentle tap as its probably stuck down in the closed position.

    Thanks guys.
I can't get it off. Have oiled it and will see if DH can get it unscrewed tonight!!

Got the TRV off. Its seems to be functioning fine, the button moves in when you turn the valve.
The pin seems to be stuck in, guess this is the problem. Will give it a blow with the hammer when the toddler is awake from her nap.

Cleaned around the pin with a paper clip! That seemed to free it up and the pin popped out.
    Heating is working again now!!!!!

Happy to know what to do as I bet the rest of them will seize up over the next few years.

This should be a sticky. The problem seems to come up on a weekly basis, is such a simple fix when told how, and would likely set you back up to €150 if a plumber needed to be called.
