Many accounting packages allow some sort of csv import of data. Some will allow you to bring in static data - such as customers and suppliers names and addresses, chart of nominal accounts and will require you to then enter opening balances. Others will allow you to import some transactional data.

I would think a good starting point would be to contact Big Red Book and ask them what information if any can be imported into their product and what format the data would need to be in in order to do so.

You will also need to decide on a chageover data for migrating from excel to an accounts package.

    To Twiggy,
Hi It’s The Big Red Book. This is a fairly straight forward process. You can contact us at 01-2048300 and we’ll assist you in the Transfer, although I do recommend you wait till you start the job and have the information and software to hand, Or you can download a free version from our website bigredbook.com and familiarise yourself with the software.

I have the trial version of Big Red Book to familiarize myself with it. I know the work i have to is to transfer all their Excel files over and it would let me copy and paste or import them into Big Red Book.
