I'm wondering if I lodge money in my credit card account over and above my limit, will I get a better rate of interest on my money?

Most credit cards these days don't pay any interest on credit balances.

you wont pay less interest on purchases, you will pay no interest until you are in debit. some cards charge you for being in credit!
