Is this really a big no no.. My usual girl was busy so I tried a new place in Galway City (a well known spa in the city centre).. I wasn't even sure what she was doing until I asked "erm is it ok to pluck from the top" and she said "Oh ya that's all only a myth".... Years ago I had plucked them away & my usual girl was trying to fix them.. Now I am worried they'll never grow back properly.......

Never pluck from the top! I only ever do it if there's one or two "stray" hairs but otherwise you should leave it alone. I would definitely complain to management, she should have known better. Personally I think it ruins the overall shape of your brows. A girl I know used to wax hers on the top and bottom and they never grew back right so she now shaves them and draws them on...eek.

:O I'd kick up a big stink about that! Your eyebrows frame your face, I hope she didn't take too much off!

She did... agh.. I'll have to go back to my normal girl again and she'll sort me out hopefully :(

Does the same apply for threading- not taking it from the top?

I get my eyebrows down at the Benefit counter and they wax above the brow. They don't wax from the natural shape...just the hairs between the area above the arch and the side of your face. For the other part...the arch towards the bridge of your nose, they often trim with a sissors. When they initially did it I was screaming inside (i too was told about the "never wax" above the brow) but honestly I've been back to them at least 15 times since as the shape they've given me is the best I've ever had. My eyebrows are now nice and groomed :) Really pleased with them.

I wish i had said something but I thought I was being a bit melo-dramatic. So I just said thanks and left.. Am raging now. It might grow back ok but now I am back at square one again.. Will take ages to get them back to "normal"........ Any advice on what to do next? Just pluck from underneath? And maybe bleach the ones that grow back from todays butchering :(

Years ago a beautician in the city (that didn;t last too long) made a complete b@lls of my brows & since then I am wary of new therapists to say the least.. Ah well I'm sure I am being a bit over the top.. They'll be fine..

If its necessary the beautician will wax or thread from the top - there is no problem with that unless your eyebrows look weird after which then means that she didnt do a good job.
There is no problem getting rid of the "fluff" on top of your eyebrow or shaping it above. I do this to mine to give me a curved shape - otherwise they're just straight

If they look ok, relax, you can pluck fluffy bits as mentioned above... My sister always take a few from the top of mine!?

If your brows still look ok then don’t worry. I think the ‘don’t pluck from the top’ thing is just because it can be easy to lose the natural shape if you’re doing it yourself. I’m sure she knew what she was doing so if they look good it’s fine.

Plus they definitely will grow back anyway.

I get my eyebrows threaded every couple of months of so (should do it more often but I'm too lazy to make appointments!) and she's always taken from the top.

My eyebrows have never been huge or anything, but I thought they looked amazing afterwards and gave a much better shape to my face. The hairs don't grow back weird or anything like that, and I've been getting this done for about 3 years now!

So I really don't think you need to worry, OP :)

I got my eyebrows threaded in dundrum shopping centre last week, first time there, she did the top and I thought it looked very severe, hopefully it'll grow back 17euro i payed as well!!

Depending on the person, it's completely okay and yes, they will grow back! I need to do the tops of my eyebrows as I have very large bushy eyebrows which almost go up to the hairline at my temples! :o

When I get threaded she seems to go halfway up my forehead with the thread! I have a lot of peach fuzz :(

If it looks okay I wouldn't worry about it. Whether I'm getting waxed or threaded the beauty therapist always touches up the top of my brows and they look a hell of a lot better than when I did them myself and never touched that part.
