Technisat HDFS -7 day EPG

Maybe a dumb question, but is the 7 day EPG only available when your STB is set up for Freesat?

Technisat HDFS has a Freesat and a Technisat mode, In Technisat mode all the Freesat channels plus other FTA channels are available.

I prefer Technisat mode as it allows me to add Sky News and Travel Channel to my channel line up, also it eliminates some unnecessary screens in the Freesat EPG, however big drawback is that the EPG only gets populated with "Now and Next" data and then only if the channel is first selected.

Is there any way to get EPG data pre-loaded, there is an EPG settings screen in Technisat mode, that has a download program guide menu, have tried that but after it spends 10 minutes downloading something, there appears to be no more EPG data available.

Is this something I havde to live with, or is there a workaround?

Possibly the 7 day EPG is a Freesat only thing and so not possible unless set up as a Freesat box?

It's a 'feature' of all Freesat receivers that they will only provide the 7-day epg in Freesat mode or standard 'now and next' in non-Freesat (or in this case Technisat) mode.
