Off road due to weather

    Due to the weather and the hazardous road conditions I have been told by my employers to go/stay home.
    My job involves being on the roadand I am willing to travel wherever possible but this may be seen by my bosses as being a waste of time and expense.
    Is it right that this " day off " would be taken from someones holidays or be deducted from pay as this situation is outside of the employees control.
    Are there emplyees rights covering this ?

    No, there isn't really any legislation covering these kinds of things. In general, if it's your company who has told you to stay at home despite you being available for work, it's paid leave. If you have decided that you are unwilling or unable to work, then it's annual leave or unpaid leave.

    There would be a certain amount of leeway I guess to allow employers to suspend operations due to exceptional conditions and take it from employees' annual leave.

    Talk to NERA. They may have more information on it.
