    Hi folks,

(I hope this isn't too low-brow for in here but....)

I'm throwing a New Year's party and was thinking about having a few games with home-made punch as the "reward" for losing. I have a few ideas for the games but amn't too sure about the punch as I've never made it before.

I want something tasty and strong but not immediately puke inducing or not rediculously expensive to make. Any tips on the right measurements/ best spirits/ juices to include etc... much appreciated!!

    Cheers

Mulled wine makes a nice warm wintery punch.

    1 bottle of red wine
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 vanilla pod
    1 tsp mixed spice
    8 cloves
    2 oranges (quartered)
    1/4 cup of brandy
    Zest of 1 lemon
    1/2 cup of sugar

You can throw any other fruit into it as well, I made it at the weekend and had grapes, a pear, some raspberries and blackberries in it and it was amazing, the smell alone immediately made people think of Christmas.

All you do is heat up all the ingredients for an hour or so(make sure it doesn't boil!) and make it the night before so the flavours have time to infuse.

Really easy to make a cosmopolitan cocktail.
Everyone likes it and its not too sugary.

Otherwise sangria is cool and cheap to make. Get some cheap aul bag-in-a-box as the wine.
