On average how much oil does a boiler use per hour? Thermostat set on,on for a few hours off for a few hours rather than constant(4 hours in totall on avrage per day)4 bedroom house.

When you say on for a few hours, and off, do you mean on for one hour, then off for an hour etc?

depends on the size of the burner jet, though roughly speaking a 120k boiler would probably have a 1.0gal/hr jet, that is one gallon of fuel for every hour on, in most cases you can check as the size is stamped on the side of the jet. smaller cabin pac type 90k .75gal/hr.......

This is not a common question. Reasons being its dependent on so many veriables... Including the temperature of the boiler and the service interval...An underspeced boiler will burn more oil... An overspec will waste oil....

I am guessing you are working out how long a 1000 ltrs will last....

    Its not an exact science...

The answer above but is dererving of a tanks because no one has ever asked this....
