Lately there seems 2 have been alot of unexpected vistors up 2 our outfarm alot of tracks and general snoopin about:rolleyes: maybe its just because of all the snow we are noticing this but whos knows what could be goin on in dry days when no tracks could been made!! So I was wondering if any of use have had any experience with this and what could be done about it?? The farm is about 3-4 miles away from where we actually live! We were thinkin of getting something that would record and send an alarm to us if and when someone came up to the farm! Alot of cattle and stuff being stolen aroud our area would hate to come over some morning and find the shed half empty!!

You could even find the shed half gone:mad: Wasn't it reported in the IFJ a few weeks ago about a farmer in Tipp, who had the gates and feeding barriers stolen form the slatted shed in his out farm. Now that's a shock to get:pac:

Two weeks ago noticed a white van and a guy snooping round the farm yard, it's on down the lane from my house...
Went down in car and blocked lane... he wasn't too happy to be caught, local junkie was looking for scrap steel, I gvae him the road and the next day he called to the mother looking for a loan of a trailer , got road again..

Quick call to the guards but response was as expected, "nothing can be done"..
If I had no tax or rear lights on the tractor it seems plenty could be done...

Is there vehicles going up to the place? maybe some boulders/barrier which could only be moved with a loader or power box. is there buildings? get a cctv if so, set up on roof maybe. or at least put up some signs.

Had a similar issue a few years ago, the parents had no dog at the time but that situation was remedied and the problem never called again funny part of it the dogs are about as vicious as a teddy bear

our farm yard is right beside the house up a lane way and we also have noticed plenty of tracks not only now in the snow but before in bits of mud! ****tin it in case some fcuker will help himself. in the process of installin a electric sliding gate to close of the yard altogether.Money that could be better spent elsewhere:mad:

The other unexpected thing from the snow was the ammount of time our local fox spends round our house, on the door steps, scratchin round the bins... We often see him round the garden but so close to the house.... It's like him and the hare take turns through the garden...:D My daugher has been looking for chickens for two years, MR fox will love them

I'd be slightly worried seeing those tracks. Someone is in without permission. Could be someone in shooting/got lost looking for somewhere or something else innocent. But it may also be the opposite.

My farm is a few miles from the house down a lane. Our diesel tanks (which are locked in a shed) have been emptied twice. Diesel robbed out of the tractors. Powertools robbed (in same shed as diesel). Tyres sliced on 2 trailers on separate occasions. I'm getting cameras put up, but haven't decided what kind of system yet.

Other farms have been hit too. One guy had a shed set alight from gangsters in smoking. Cattle been stolen too around the place.

Anything thats not tied down will be taken, and even tying them down isn't enough.

Update: Having read that ya'd think I lived in some scumbag filled housing estate in Limerick or something!! I assure you thats not the case, small village off the N7 in Laois is where I call home

Heard of a story recently from someone who met a guy originally from south america. Where he comes from, if someone is seen trying to break into a place , the owner fires a warning shot into the air.
All the neighbours then, in turn fire shots so there is a load of shots going off along the road.
Say, they'd skid-adle fairly quick outta that place.:D
