Christmas present advice needed - want to get some lipstick for my gf but have absolutely no clue as to which one to get - although she does like it pretty bright red but not too ott. Can there really be that many different ones out there?!

    Any help welcome!

Basically, yeh theres absolutely loads and so many red shades. Id find it very hard picking out a lipstick for someone,as the colour in the tube often looks completely different on their lips.Red is especially difficult as the tones vary from an orangey red to pinky red and every version in between. Is there anyway you could have a root in her makeup bag and see what she has and write down a few brands she has? If not, id stick to a lipgloss which are far easier to get right.

Mac Russian Red is a really popular red lippy if she likes a full on colour! You can get it in Brown Thomas for about €16 I think

+1 for MAC's Russian Red, but if you want to go for a safer option they do a shade called Creme Cup which is a lovely neutral pink shade (not Barbie-ish at all) that suits a lot of people.

I prefer Ruby Woo by MAC to Russian Red. But you should have a look at the colors in her makeup bag ATM then go to Brown Thomas and pick out a shade you think would fit in with her current collection. MAC lipstick is definitely my favorite.
