Whatever Happened to Carol Coleman at RTE?

Been wondering this for a while.

Carol Coleman was the RTE interviewer who gave George W such a hard time in an interview in 2004 in the white house, it caused old Dubya to blow his top and the white house made official complaints to the Irish embassy and Dubya himself made informal complaints to Bertie when in Ireland the next day.

RTE issued a statement defending Coleman and her interview and she continued to appear on RTE news for a short time but then suddenly vanished from the station.

Did they get bullied into shafting her in the end?

She wrote two books since her stint as RTÉ's US correspondent and according to the blurb on her last one (on the 2008 US election) "Carole Coleman, a US-based freelance journalist who covered the election for "Today with Pat Kenny" on RTÉ Radio, also contributes to BBC Radio and WAMU Radio in Washington DC."

    Link.

So she's no longer staff with RTÉ, whatever the terms of her departure may have been.

you could also ask what happened to Carry Crowley or any young thinking woman. they fell by the way side in favour of cruder ladettes who appeal more to the masses.

Disagree with that, they were all overexposed and readily agreed to that and it killed their careers

I'm just glad she's not around as much as she was, I think she's painful.

Since Mark Little (who was their first Washington correspondent), RTE have changed their US correspondent at the beginning of a Presidential term. Mark Little was there from 1995 (during Bill Clinton's first term) to the beginning of 2001 when Dubya was sworn in when Carol Coleman started her stint. At the end of Dubya's first term in Jan 2005 she was replaced by Robert Shortt but instead of returning to Ireland she resigned and stayed in the US.

They possibly should have retained Carol as a shoulder for Charlie Bird to cry on.

Carole Coleman, I think that's how she spells her name.

Apparently married an American after her stint as WShington corr.

Wrote a few books one of which I read and wasn't impressed, expecting a bit of insight into the kind of job she was doing and such.

Does a bit of freelance for RTE in busy times, like pres elections , shootings and stuff and maybe when the incumbent corr. is on holidays.

That's all I know about the lady.

Carrie Crowley was over exposed and finally decided herself that presenting wasn't her thing, she is now an actor, largely seen in TG4 Drama, she isn't that bad.

Heard a report which seemed Irish based from "Carol Coleman" on RTE yesterday.

Is that Carole of George Bush fame?

    Is she back?
