Hey man, I know exactly what you mean and I'm just 25. You'd think people my age would be all for travelling. There is a group that organise trips away for people in your situation. It's called the PATT Club (People Alone Travelling Together). The name sounds depressing as it makes single people sound desperate when really it's just becuase everyone else is attached or not interested in travel.

    Do you ski ?

Join the ski club and go on their annual trip!

    www.exodus.co.uk or www.explore.co.uk

They organise small group tours, about 15-20 people- and there are always people travelling alone. They are more activity based than socialising though if that's not your thing - depending on the group there is room for both!! I've been away with them a few times. They are English but you can get other Irish people on them. - the one with the most drinking I was on had 3 of us!! Check their website - and if you are thinking of going you could give them a ring and check the age profile on the trip. The do specific departure dates only for people travelling alone which is good because everyone will make an effort to mix.

    Hi,
I am in the same boat as the op. I am single late 20s and would be interested in going on an activity holiday such as a walking, cyling or hiking holiday with other people.. Has anyone experience with the travel agents mentioned.

Hi, I went on a 16 day trip to India with gap adventures, highly recommended! There were plenty of older single travellers in the group too .. when I mean older, it wasn't exclusively 18 or 20 year olds!

I have been in South America with Gap Adventures and I cant reccommend them highly enough, there were 12 of us in our group for 20 days, age range 23-38 and all of us hit it off in a big way and had a great time and have met up a good few times since, all of the 12 were from Irelnd of the Uk, although Gap is a canadian company (i think)....there were some people travelling alone and some in pairs....it was brilliant !!!

Hey guys I was looking at something like this. Maybe in late August early Septmeber. Might be good if we at least we knew a couple going. I am not set on this one, I would like to avoid Thailand if possible as I have been there before. I know this trip ends in Bangkok but it's only to get the flight out.

I am 29 (just till the end of the month) so thought I would treat myself with a birthday present.

Open to ideas max budget would be around €2,000 - €2,500 including flights but excluding spending money.

    Anyone else with ideas?

I dont know about the rest of you lads but I would be looking for somewhere I could go on the pull in bars at night :D? I'm not sure that option would be there in some of the Asian countries I was thinking of Europe really anyone else thinking along those lines? I have one other mate who will be looking to head somewhere too... You might be on to something there Canada...

A few years ago I went back-packing in Eastern Europe on my own.

It was one of the best holidays I ever had. Once you can bring yourself to make any kind of conversation with the people you meet in the hostels you won't spend a night alone!

Yeah, I was gonna suggest that you consider going away on your own too?

You might enjoy it! Eat where you want, go where you want to go, stay where you want to go,on your own schedule with nobody holding you back.
Do everything at a pace that you want to do it at and do things your own way.

I've never traveled anywhere on my own before so I can't give you any experience stories, I'm just basically throwing it out there..

You could grab an interrail pass and go around loads of places, meet loads of new people and make friends as you go. You wouldn't be the only person on their own.

As I mentioned, I've never done it, But maybe it's worth a go?!

Good Luck Anyway, Whatever you decide to do :)

    Go alone!
Eastern Europe/Ukraine is fabulous. You meet lovely people once they can speak english and as for nights out meeting people..just be nice and you will-You will never be stuck for good company in my experience.
Try fly to Krakow and take a train to Lviv Ukraine. Spend a few nights there then onto Kiev, or any other city along the way. Maybe end up in Moscow?
Travelling alone the choice is yours, and from experience, the best holidays of my life.
