I'm looking for a very affordable everyday moisturiser for my body. I have very dry skin. E45 and Aquareous cream never really absorb into my skin, and I find body butters too thick in general for all your body.
Anyone got any suggestions? I'm just out of my St. Ives Collagen body lotion, really do like it, but wanting a little change.

    Thanks

    This:

    http://www.neutrogenauk.co.uk/deepmoisture.jhtml?itemname=deep_moisture

Absorbs really quickly, gives great relief from even itchy dry skin, for less than a tenner.

I also have dry skin, especially in winter. I found a great moisturiser for me, Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion. I use it on my body and my face. Costs about €7 for a large tube of it in Boots. Absorbs really easily, and keeps me moisturised all day. I sound like an ad :P

I know it works really well for a lot of people, but a word of caution to the Op if she has sensitive skin. Aveeno gave me a savage allergic reaction, and I don't have particularly sensitive skin myself.

Maybe its available in a 'sensitive' formulation though, the one I tried was the regular one.

Palmers cocoa butter is amaaazing really sorts out my dry skin in winter if you don't like the smell they have one without the chocolatey scent too.

Hi OP. I have really dry skin this time of year that gets cracked and is just horrible. It's also really sensitive. The Palmer's one is good (I used the olive oil one) but I found it sort of greasy, like just a step below rubbing Silcock's Base all over (which is REALLY good but for night time use only). As a day one I find the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Everyday Repair Body Lotion really good. I think it absorbs really well and heals as well as moisturises. Definitely worth a try IMO.

Have you tried the Palmers body oil? It's very lightly scented, and is great for after a shower. Doesn't stain your clothes either!

I found the same - the lotions (I bought a few different ones because they were on offer) seemed nice but I kept getting patches of excema which I hadn't had for years. Stopped using the Aveeno lotion and it went away. Tried it again and it came back. Very weird as it seems to be marketed as a good moisturiser for sensitive skin.

I find the Johnson and Johnson cream in the tub good, the lotions are good too but I don't like the smell as much. Their night time one is gorgeous though - it's in a purple bottle, but I haven't seen it anywhere for a while now.

Vaseline Intensive Care. I chop and change moisturisers all the time, but that one does the job.

not very affordable but not shocking expensive La Roche Posay lipikar baume is amazing and in fairness, the big tube of it (around 20 quid) lasts ages.

I know you said you didn't like E45 but have you tried this one? I've just recently started using it (because it was on special offer!!!) and it's really really good, much better than the regular E45.

wooooow guys, thanks for the help, if you dont mind though id like to elaborate more on my skin so you know if its the one for me?
My skin is tight and flaky when i don't moisturise, i can get rid of the flaky-ness with body oils, but the tightness is a big problem, it hurts when i pull on my skin. I am curious to try a few of the recommendation, but if someone out there knows the kinda think im going through id appreciate. I really liked St Ives for helping the tighthness, it's lovely, just wondering is there a better version really?

I have the same problem its horrible. I use the jergens ultra hydration body cream. its lovely and what I do is just through the oil in it and shake it up and it does the job of fixing both problems :D I just love jergens cant wait to try the tan version in america

Another vote for Silcocks base for night time, it works really good. Make sure you exfoliate too :)

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have very dry skin too and was using palmers but found that a bottle of it didn't last very long so u was always running out.

I found a really good one in boots own brand with cocoa butter in it. It costs around €3 for 200mls and have been using it everyday including on my bump.

I can't use nivea or aveeno or anything like that and hate thick lotions and creams as I put it on in the morning after a shower and get dressed straight away so need something absorbant.

Sorry don't know the exact name of the boots one but it's their own brand and you'll find it quite easily next time you're in a store.

I've got sensitive dry rapidly expanding skin and I love it!

Lush have a newish product out called Ultrabalm. It's a bit like vaseline but has rose and almond oil which are really soothing, especially on very dry, broken skin. it's also an amazing intensive lip treatment. I bought a tub in September and i'm only about a tenth of the way through the tub. All my housemates have become converts too- even the lads!

I have been using this tesco coca butter moisturizer. I feel lovely and soft after it for ages, and I use it under my tan to make sure it goes on easily. I sometimes can have reactions to moisturizers but never to this one! :)

Palmers, Nivea creme or (a little pricier) The Body Shop moisturisers, all great!

I love using the LUSH moisturizers when I have some extra cash, I have tried Celestial and Skin Drink and find them so good. I feel fresh, soft and good after use.

The Body Shop's coconut body lotion is bee-youtiful, but at almost €20 a pop, not very economical for lashing on every day. Boots do a nice own brand coconut and almond body lotion. Comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser and is about €3. Not as nice as TBS, but still pretty good.

Giggii, what does this smell like if you don't mind me asking? I like a lot of Lush soaps and things, but the couple of times I tried to make myself love their moisturisers (Dream Cream, I'm looking at you), I just couldn't get past the smell of them. This sounds lovely, but I just can't use face/body moisturisers if I don't like the smell!

Unlike most lush moisturisers it has pretty much no strong scent. Just a mild hint of almonds, and even at that it's pretty unnoticeable...

Another moisturiser that is nice is buying plain old coconut oil barely any smell and goes on really well. You get buy it in health shops or online

2 litres of water a day! That will help alot but you need to give it a few weeks to kick in.

I find the Vichy body lotions (not the milk) really good. Probably similar to the La Roche Posay mentioned previously.

    :)
