make-up advice needed

    Hi,
I'm going to do a makeover of my make up collection tomorrow and am not sure whether to buy lip gloss or lipstick. I never wear either normally but would like to get into the habit.
Can anyone suggest either? Are there any pros and cons for either or does it matter?
Also, I'm going to buy foundation (haven't worn it in about five years). Should I get liquid, or are there other types? Do I need a powder to go over the liquid? Will I need a concealer as well? I've read that concealers need to be one shade lighter than foundations, is this true?
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on these questions :)

    lip gloss or lipstick

I put Lipstick on then lipgloss on over it but there are some lipsticks/glosses that you give you the glossy look.

Should I get liquid, or are there other types?

I use liquid and always have, I find powder foundations look dry on my skin. Whats your skin like?

Do I need a powder to go over the liquid?

    Powder sets your foundation

Will I need a concealer as well?

I only use concealer when I have a spot!

I got maybellene mousse foundation, mascara and eyeliner. I got a nude coloured lip gloss and a not too vibrantly coloured blush. I didn't get concealer in the end. I got some browny coloured eye shadows too.
    Did I miss anything vital?

Did you get powder to set your foundation? That's a must IMO! Otherwise I think you got the basics covered! I would advise some good make up brushes in time, they really make a difference.

Well i got the maybelline matte mousse so it's not shiny or anything. I thought I'd get away without a powder.
Yeah, I definitely need some brushes. Pretty difficult applying eye shadow and blush with my fingers! :)

I haven't used that foundation in a long time (5+ years) but I think I used powder with it, if it's not shiny you're probably fine, I just think powder "sets" the foundation and makes it last longer!

When you decide to buy makeup brushes, definitely invest in MAC brushes, they're very expensive but worth it.
