Jimenez's swing...

Lads, the Sky Sports commentators have much much of Miguel Angel Jimenez's swing this week. Joking that "you wouldn't dare teach it to anyone but it repeats" etc...

But, I wonder, is it really that unorthodox? It's flat and in to out, yes, but is it really that peculiar?? I don't really think it is but what do I know.

Any lads here who know the technicalities of the golf swing care to comment, what exactly is it that he does that is so unusual?

I have often taught about this myself, I think his practice swing is funny to watch, but his real swing is nothing like it.
I don't think his real swing is bad at all, it gets the job done and that's what counts I suppose

I think that's exactly it - it's more his funny practise swinging routine that makes people think he has a funny swing. His actual golf swing isn't really all that unusual. Has a little overswing in it maybe.

slightly off topic but the speaking of sky commentary: it was fupping brutal for the duration of the nedbank challenge. i realize not everyone can be peter allis but christ on a bike... four days of "isnt this great", "isnt that great", "isnt he great", "isnt this lovely", "who would be the best driver of a ball ever for you jeff?"... fupping meandering nonsensical backslapping drivel... while guys are taking shots!.... not a massive fan of ken brown but at least he contributes INSIGHT!!!! and that big south african numptie... who the hell is he? he makes alan partridge sound perceptive!

back to jiminez... any swing, like his, thats very accurate and very repeatable is a good swing surely. i like how his practice swing reminds him of what not to do.... well, thats my interpretation of it.

Matt Kuchar - lowest average scorer and highest money winner on PGA Tour
Jim Furyk - US PGA player of the year
GMac - US Open winner + three other titles

Three of the best players of 2010 and look at their swings. So far from 'textbook'.

But then what the hell is textbook anyway? Adam Scott was lauded for years for his 'great swing' - what's he done in the game?

Give me a winning swing over and above a Mark Roe-approved swing any day of the week!

I thought the American guy, Jim Kelly, was quite good, not afraid to at least crack the odd joke - the others toe the line so much they'd send to sleep. Dale Hayes was the South African, he was a bit much at times alright. I like Tony Johnston for his occasionally hilarious homo-erotic comments that fly right over his own head.
