I was wondering how are Solicitors in Limerick paid? How much would they earn? Is it a good career field to enter? Any takers please. :)

solicitor is a good career in some respects, but the earnings vary wildly depending on what type of law you practice, what type/size firm your in, and whether your any good, ect!

But if you are considering becoming a solicitor you should know that it is a very difficult career to break into these days.
Have a look at the agonizing going on in the Fe1 exam thread or the trainee contract 2010 thread for an idea of just how difficult it is!
It can take years to even get as far as training, and many people end up being forced to give up on the idea as it just never happens for them.

Do you have a degree or are you looking way down the line with the question?

I am in my final year of an arts degree and I was considering maybe the path to be a solicitor but im not sure. Like you said it does seem to be a difficult path as those two forums show.
These Fe 1 exams seem to be stressful for most.
As I don't have any knowledge of law it could be impossible.
Ive heard of people doing self study for them but I wonder would they have done their degree in law to be able to do so.
I would like to have had a fair indication of what a solicitor would earn maybe especially in Limerick but like you said it would depend on the firm as well. I wonder would it be a good or a bad thing to approach a self study route if possible instead of stating I done a course in say Griffith.
