    Morning All,

I have a problem with my android 2.2. I have visited a site that I shouldnt have and now when i type www. it always comes up as a suggested spelling, this is everytime I use the keyboard.

I have cleared all data from the browser and the custom dictionary, but this hasnt fixed it. Does anyone know where this is stored so I can nuke it and not get a beat down when she comes home :D

    Thanks

Haha this is hilarous. Anyway, I found this. It looks similiar to what you already tried but according to the introduction it gets rid of auto-complete information so maybe you missed something:

Is your phone rooted? I still don't have an android device, but I'm familiar with linux. That information is just stored in a file on the device somewhere. If you have your phone rooted you should be able to delete that file with relative ease....The problem would just be finding out which file it is. Is there not a "clear history" option in your web browser? Or the web browser settings somewhere?

Good work by the way. Best thread in ages. :D

I might have to look into rooting.

I dont think the issue is purely a browser issue, as if I use the keyboard when typing a message, and type www, there it is. Also as a test I added www.test into the dictionary, it said the "please change input method to android keyboard ...."

Did you try settings - language and keyboard - input settings - user dictionary and then delete the words?

Sure. Works for me (not that I've made the same mistake) but it definitely erases everything from my browser Skyfire

    hmmm

    I dont have input settings.

I have languages and keyboards - user dictionary, but this says there are no entries. I think this might be swype related ?

Just to clear this post up, I was surfing for the wife xmas pressies and dont want her to see the URL or it will give the suprise away ;)

Bring up the swype keyboard and click into its settings. There should be a custom dictionary in there!

OK - I have switched off the auto predict and now you can't see the offending URL.

    Thanks for all the info.

    Wait, it's swype?
Write the word, then press the swype key on it twice, it should ask you if you want to delete it!

cheers Bruno I will give it a whirl

In the HTC browser, there is an option under settings to clear history, form data, cache etc...

    Press menu, more, settings...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Bob the Builder

Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage Applications ---> Swype(or other app) ----> Delete Data

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭KAGY

Try clearing everything then pressing back until browser exits. Clear everything again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭KAGY

Another thought, did you check your web history of your Google account
