Whats your favourite tea?

I have always been a bit of a tea addict but slowly but surely moving over towards the coffee bean, the real McCoy not the instant stuff.

Anyway, I'm curious as to what tea everyone buys. No doubt the Cork natives will be addicted to the Barrys stuff.

My personal favourite is Lyons Kenyan blend and only made by the pot not by the cup.

    Whats yours???

Lyons are Barry's either or! :)

I do love Lipton tea though, those tea bags are kept for special occasions.... :P I went to Oslo in January and they sold it in the little supermarket, I bought like 5 boxes and was desperately trying to fit them in my suitcase!

Liptons is usually a pretty weak tea, is that correct? Perhaps that is why you like it

It was just a Red Berry from Suki Tea but they recently brought on the Russian Caravan so I'm all over that now.

Nothing wrong with a cup of Lyons with milk and sugar every now and then though. :p

I go on holidays to Donegal every summer and when I'm up that far I go across to Strabane and buy 15 large boxes of Nambarrie to do me for the year. It's the best tea imo. Strong with a smooth taste. I find Barrys/Lyons way too weak.

A good Lapsang. Or a Pu-Erh or Matcha on the green side of things.

For bags, I second the call for Punjana.

Lyons green blend made in the cup.

You can tell I'm a student.

I don't know why but when it's cold out I have a thing for smoky tea, like this lovely mellow Grand Lapsang from the Palais des Thés. Smoky whisky too, but that's another forum.

Off milk now, so getting to take my tea black, and going the extra mile. loose leaf ceylon, Mariage Freres ratnapura for a treat. Whittards Russian Caravan loose leaf golden and malty, Kenyan tea like a copper penny, good old fashioned taste

I like green tea, jasmin green tea and earl grey with milk. I also always try new teas when it comes to it but these are my faves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 667 ✭✭✭Cherrycoke

I love Ahmad tea, the Ceylon one. I get it in my local ethnic shop in a massive box! Lovely and strong :)

Thanks to the Polish guys in work, I'm starting to drink it more and more without milk.

It's not that bad, and sometimes I have it like that at home

Yep. Seconded. It's absolutely fabulous. Just make sure to squeeze the bejaysis out of the tea bag for the ultimate taste sensation.:D

I like Genmaicha the best but it's not really an every day with bickies type of tea. It has toasted rice in it. You can get it in Asian foodstores. Very nice.

Pity there's not a big Tea drinking forum in here. Anyway for black tea I have to say the Fairtrade Clipper Breakfast Tea is the best "builders" tea I've ever tasted. I'm familiar with all the "Irish" brands, and they're all blended to have a particular taste, so down to taste really, not quality.
For loose tea, I'd have to say two teas from Lily's Tea Shop, "Dragon Pearl" Jasmine, and "Dragon Well" Green Tea are two of the best loose Teas I've tasted. Not blended, but single variety Tea. Quality at a price, but imo well worth having in the kitchen press.

.......and I've been buying Breakfast Tea from Kingfisher Teas in Dunlaoighre market for a few years now only to find out that Bewleys Breakfast is half the price. Will stick with Bewleys now. Not bad. Will also buy their Earl Grey. Like EG.

    (never with milk, both teas)
