checked the zero yesterday and am getting 1 inch groups at 250m
so went to look for charlie last night but not one in sight not even a glimps of a pair of eyes, this was first time bringing the .223 only got it last week
has he started to hunt by day because of cold nights?
or did I do something wrong
set myself up under some trees where I couldn't be seen on the skyline after placeing the ucaller about 80m away stayed for about 30mins used the rabbit distress call that came on the caller is it any good
tried 2 other spots and went home disapointed

    any tips??

or maybe somebody near me be willing to take me along and learn from from them

That's a very good group for 250y. What rig do you have.

As far as Charlie is concerned you will just have to keep trying. Sometimes he will be there and other times he won't.
Once you get into the swing of it you will find it easier.
Patience and perseverance rule when fixing.

It's a remington 700 with bushnell sportsman scope
have been using Anschutz .22lr for about 3 years just found it hard to get charlie close enough
have knocked him dead out to about 100 yards with winchester .22 sub but find it hard to judge this at night
have often let him go and steped it to where he was to find he was in range

Good man for letting him go when you weren't sure ;) Santa might have a range finder for you this year :pac: Had a .22lr myself and often passed up shots because I wasn't sure.

Ok, last night was pretty dark, I wouldn't worry too much about skyline silhouettes, I was right up on top of a high hillock. When there's more moon it's a different story.

What's the surrounding land look like? Big fields, small fields, flat, open, cover, what?

What goes on around you, are there people keeping fowl, chicken units, game shoots, anyone lambing yet, rabbits?

Foxes will have their own paths and it's good to find out where they're coming from and going to (think where's safe to lay up/den - plenty underground this weather I'd imagine) and where is the food in your area).

Did you move far between stands?

What time did you go out and what time did you quit?

Didn't have much success with the U Caller I had on foxes, birds would go mental for it but didn't seem to draw in fox.

fields range from 6 to 20 acres with plenty of cover along the edge of some, overgrown lanes, railway banks, bog and forestry have seen alot of tracks in the snow in the bigger fields nearly always around by the ditch but sometimes across the middle land is fairly flat around the house but about a mile or so there is a deep valley with a river and lots of cover and forestry
alot of people around keep a few hens but never have heard of charlie causing any problems
rabbits are very scarce but seems to be alot of hares
used to be alot of sheep but now only 1 farmer keeps them unless I travel 6 or 7 miles other side of the valley

went out about 9pm back at 11pm
