3.50 prevented the use of 3rd party controllers. Apparently Sony were worried about them exploding.

Im tired of the ps3 controller and wondering any alternatives

I was hoping they'd be somthing like what the xbox 360 is getting in January http://www.limexb360.co.uk/product/Razer_Onza_Xbox_360_controller_RO360 but cant find anything like that for the ps3 (maybe im looking in the wrong place)

so my second thought was to get an adaptor to make the xbox controller work for the ps3 but im not sure are they any good

    any advice

its not all third party controllers that dont work, only some afaik (namely the really shoddy knock off variety, not the licensed, but still not official, ones)

Arn't they licensed, given that GT is a 1st party title? It's unlicensed ones that were given the boot.

..not totally true , I've a 3rd party controller(big ben one that came with an argos ps3 pack) , and a fully updated ps3 and they work.I reckon this is because the controller uses a usb dongle , so even though its wireless and plays like a regular controller , the ps3 thinks its a regular usb one.

    Sony PR dept are liars,

    typical console myths,

-"removing cart whan console is on breaks it."
-"using non duracel batteries in a handheld breaks it"
-"using 3rd party deviced available at half the cost with improved build quality will break it, explode in your face, cause cancer"
-"the hardware in the PS3 slim does not support the Other OS feature"

all lies, the last one causing the collapse of their copy protection system by pissing off people who couldn't have less of an intrest in copying games.

I'm no fanboi, I just hate this kind of "update" lock down on something that people buy and own. it's like they tie a peice of string to the PS3 when selling it to you and then yank it back off you after you've paid for it.

Guys, there's a difference between third party controllers, and unlicensed controllers.
