My laptop is not recognizing my iphone and I can't figure out why. I've used all the different ports available and different cables but nothing happens.

It won't even charge when I connect it up

When in work, I charge it off my work computer and that works fine (computer is not internet connected and doesn't have itunes on it)

Can anyone help me resolve this issue? I haven't been able to sync my iphone in over a month

Sorry should have stated that I use windows vista.

Followed those instructions and scanned for hardware changes, unplugged and plugged back in but no joy. It's still not recognizing the iphone...

Is there anything else I can try?

    No

Weird ..and your using the same cable as you would in work ?

    You could try this :

    1) open "run" from the and run "services.msc".
    2)find "Apple Mobile Device".
3)In the "status" column it will tell you if the process is started or not, and the "startup type" column will tell you if the process will start automatically when windows starts. I think the goal here is to set the status to "started" and the startup type to "automatic".
4)To do this right click on this process, and then click on "Properties"
    5) In the "general" tab find the "startup type" drop-down arrow menu and make sure "automatic" is selected. Select it if it is not.
    6) Also in the general tab check the "service status". If it does not say "started" then click the start button.
    7) at the bottom of the properties window click "apply"

Yea using the same cable as work... Have tried 3 other cables but they don't work.

    Gonna try that process now.

Thanks for the help btw :)

Ok they were already stated as 'started' and 'automatic' but I still followed the process anyway.

Well lets be honest love, probably time for an upgrade of your OS anyway.

Do other usb devices work, can you start, right click on my computer, and give us a screen of device manager.

Open up device manager and go down to USB devices .

Plug in and out your phone and see if the list refreshes .
If it does refresh find the line item that's refreshing and right click on it /properties .
Go to drivers tab and uninstall the driver .

Close out of device manager and re-attach phone , hopefully it will reinstall working driver .

    M

(ps) how old is the laptop ?
Was vista it's original OS ?

Laptop is less than a year old and i've never changed the OS.

    That doesn't work either.

I was on the phone for over 2hrs with Apple last night and the problem is still not resolved. I'm able to use all the ports on the laptop with other devices perfectly too...
