Tupac for me, I cannot like the guy, his lyrics/beats/attitude...none of it speaks to me on any level.

Give me some PE or Blahzay Blahzay any day over 'pac

There's no point in even trying to defend 2Pac if your dislike is that deep. Personally, I'm the exact opposite

Can't stand any of them tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭CorkMan

Nicki Minaj, Lil kim, if I wanted them i'd just tune into playboy.

Most rappers from the south TBH, they have them snap music/lil jon type beat and most of the time absolutely crap lyrics. I say they don't even mime in the video, just flash there teeth at the camera. I have never got into Lil Wayne for example, the beat is just un-bearable.

It's perfectly reasonable to dislike rappers on account of their beat choice. They can use good beats or they can rap on garbage. Some of them don't have any taste.

2Pac - hate his overly shouty adlibbed vocals (which people mistake for emotional delivery), repetitive rhyme patterns, content, beat choice.

Eminem (newer stuff) - emulating 2Pacs excessively adlibbed shouty delivery. Voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Has gotten really mechanical, lost all that looseness he used to have. Beat choice is absolutely horrible.

Nelly - obnoxious sounding voice. Horrible beat choices. Annoying dress sense.

Wale - annoying delivery. Has that arrogant nasal twang he jacked off Kanye but manages to make it even more annoying than previously.

Pitbull - nuff said. Incredibly annoying on every level.

I don't really dislike anybody else. I'm quite a fan of the likes of Gucci Mayne, Lil Wayne and even maybe Waka Flocka Flame who most people seem to hate intensely. Some of Drakes stuff is good, other stuff is annoying so I'm on the fence about him.

Most of the English rappers except Professor Green.
No American rappers that I have a particular dislike for, Lil' Jon is probably my least favourite of the mainstream, he's quite annoying. I like the sound from the South, though.

Not a big fan of any of that London rap-pop thats around at the moment, all sounds the exact same.

Also dislike Lil wayne. There's something about his voice and how he raps that just irritates the **** out of me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56 ✭✭iluvcheese92

the most cringe-worthy lyrics i have ever heard came from the mouth of tinie tempah, "i've got so many clothes i keep them at my aunts house"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,970 ✭✭✭mufcboy1999

N dubz: incredibly bad on every level they just get under me skin.

lil wayne: seriously dont get this chap's buzz, he mumbles his raps and just sounds plain terrible along with his rock n roll trash he comes out with, all teeny boper rubbish. saying that i do like milli and tie my hands thats about it.

young jeezy: just dont like his style nothing personal.

p diddy: the biggest leach in hip hop and he cant rap to save his life these days (some of his old stuff was good though).

there's a lot more but thats enough

Brother Ali gets on my tits a lot of the time.
Middle Class white guy trying to be an oppressed muslim, stfu dude, your name is Jason, bitch.

Really dislike scroobius pip even though I wouldn't really call it rap, or hiphop, just pretentious bull****. Absolutly horrible flow and he's lyrically insanely boring. Most people who like him tend to be people who fawn over **** bands like The XX and The National. GTFO, he sucks.
La Sac makes some nice tracks, but that bearded twat ruins them.

Fiddy, flow is so-so, lyrics are gack. It's pop music though, so I guess you can't really expect much.

Kudi. Honestly, the dude is NOTHING special. Average flow, average lyrics and so far up his own arse he's eating his torso as a hat.

Raekwon- He dosent deserve even a fraction of the praise he gets. Boring voice and flow. A poor mans nas.

New eminem- Horrible selection of beats and annoying voice.

    Swizz Beatz- A cnut.

    Lil Wayne- Horrible.

Most southern rappers. The south killed hip hop.

I think the whole who killed hip hop was a can of worms Nas opened that he shouldn't of with the hip hop is dead album and movement which was clearly to gain some buzz for himself as with the nigg*r album. hip hop isnt dead and it never will die it just changes from time to time for better or worse.

thats not saying i agree with all that auto tune rubbish and pop orientated songs and dances and so on because trust me i dont, but most modern day rappers including your more hardcore mc's have jumped on there fair share of radio/pop songs to gain buzz.

Some people aren't letting it go though.

MF Doom. I can't understand the hype at all. His tone is annoying, he seems to think he's got some serious skills, he brings out concept albums with songs that are filled with cartoon samples and his vocals bigging himself up. Why do you have to change your name on every album?

I'd like to hear the other side of it though, why people DO like this guy.

I dont know mate i wouldn't say its dying at all, its just changing i mean if dre put out the chronic now would you consider it a classic would it of done aswell? I dont think it would, it doesn't fit this time period and society is a lot more gay and men acting feminine friendly etc thats why rappers wearing tight ass jeans and singing and dancing is selling. i mean all a rapper needs is a catchy r'n'b/pop hook and he's more than likely sorted. I cant even remember the last no 1 rap song without an r'n'b/pop hook.

we saw it with jay z,ludacris,eminem,50 cent,t.i etc etc they all went borderline pop at one time or another or even techno is what a lot of them are into now, i mean just look at p diddys latest album it says it all.

as much as we want the good ol fashioned 90's/early 00's sound of hip
hop that a lot of us grew up with we might have to come to terms with never getting it again fairly soon when jay,nas,em,wu,50,dre,snoop,cube etc etc put the mic down. we will never hear pac, big, pun, big L etc again and we all know how that feels soon all we will be left is young money and lil wayne claiming he is greatest rapper ever:D

not taking anything away from an exception of talent coming through like j.cole etc but they are clearly outnumbered by the laughable amount of so called rappers out there i.e soulja boy.

joe budden seems to mention every rapper bar himself lol:D budden thinks he's a lot better than he actually is that was always his biggest problem, although he does make good music with slaughterhouse his solo stuff isnt the best.

Joey is part of what is one of very few real hiphop crews left, they are 4 of the rawest MC's on the planet. Joey is mad under rated. the mood music mixtapes will make a man ****ing cry, just the most real emotional ****, nobody else can touch him lyrically. royce and crook are steets ahead of anyone else on the planet when it comes to streethop/gangster **** and Joell Ortiz is INSANE.

The people you listed and you constantly link, are garbage.

Dre isn't even a ****ing rapper ffs, he pays other people to write his ****, i mean, come on, wtf?

    Dre is ****.
    Snoop is ****.
Jigga never sold a ****ing record until he went pop.
    50 is GARBAGE
Luda is a good rapper but he has long since gone pop.
    T.i. see above.

As for diddy, he has never spit a good rhyme in his life.
he cant flow, even while paying other people to write his **** he sounds like a 11 year old wrote it.

    Buy a hieroglyphics album man.

the stuff you listen to is to hiphop what Busted and McFly are to rock music.

Just because it has a breakbeat and someone rapping doesn't mean it's hiphop. It's ****ing pop music.

please bud budden is alright but dont blow him out of proportion, although you may like him he is not everyone's cup of tea at all, iv listened to buddens mood tapes and to be quite honest iv heard better a lot better mixtapes, the majority of time budden makes me want to kill myself when im listening to him for too long, he is for the best part a very depressing rapper.

that single he jumped on with christina miilan all but ended his solo mainstream rap career was that not pop?

most of the rappers i listed above before they sold out were streets ahead of budden, you could never ever compare any of buddens work to a blueprint or marshall mathers lp, when budden hoped on that track with christina when he was signed to a major in def jam, he was dropped years ago. my point 99.9 per cent of mainstream rappers sell out at some stage in their career and budden did just that when he was signed to def jam.

although budden is lyrical, id most defiantly put a lot of rappers ahead of him including his buddy royce, royce da 5'9 murders him on most tracks they combine on, just because budden gets all emotional and heavy in his raps it doesn't make him lyrically better in any way to a eminem, pun or nas etc.

agree with you on slaughterhouse, im a huge fan especially of royce iv been following him since rock city. everyone knows what a lyrically great album slaughterhouse was and how much of an achievement it was for all four MC's hence the talk of being signed to shady records.

bud im specifically talking about budden's solo stuff here so dont get it mixed up, im just saying im not mad about budden not that i dont like him because i do like some of his music, just i wouldn't rate him as much as you do.

true about dre and diddy etc we all know that, but i was just stating how hip hop is changing and how it is not dying, its just different from before.

hip hop is a culture not just music.

trust me i listen to all different kinds of hip hop but please dont call the likes of snoop **** because doggystyle/chronic/blueprint/get rich/marshall mathers lp >>>>>>>>>>>> joe's career.

Everybody doesn't have to like Doom. I can understand why some people would hate him. His style can be a bit repetitive if you're not into it.

He changes his name because he's supposedly writing a different characters. In truth they're all kind of similar it's just different sides of him. Viktor Vaughan is more "real" oldschool rap punchlines, Ghedorah is all on about being your ruler and taking over earth.

Reasons I like him are funny lines, extremely nerdy references, a wide vocabulary, his voice and his beat choices.

His last album wasn't very good to be honest. I didn't like Dangerdoom much either. If you haven't listened to Viktor Vaughan - Vaudeville Villain then give that a go It's his best in my opinion. Madvillainy is interesting but the delivery is a bit muted to be to a lot of rap fans tastes.

Have to agree with your views on DOOM, except that his latest album is dope. Although he is getting a bit repetitve in his content, he still has some killer lines and awesome choice of beats.

and on to who I cant stand, i've spent the last few weeks in Jordan and all they play in bars there is either horrible techno or Nikki Minaj and Birdman.

    Birdman is pants, nuff said.

as for Nikki Minaj, sometimes, some very rare times she has a decent flow but then she ruins it with her 'angry' winey, "someone just shoved a large prickly cactus us my surgically enhanced behind and i'm squeezing the bastid til i get diamonds" voice. I would love to punch her, just once....obviously with her consent.

You're not the only one. He's a top drawer beatmaker but I find his rhyming quite irritating. I'd put Wale in a similar category he has that annoying nasal quality to his voice and likes to draaaag on his punchlines.

His voice is absolutely painful to listen too and he seems to try way too hard to spit witty metaphors with diverse wordplay.
IMO 99% of the time the production on his tracks save him so I guess he owes El-P and Blockhead a debt of gratitude ;)

    Modern Eminem.

All right I'll admit I don't hate his new stuff but nor do I love it. His new, modern stuff is all right and some of the lyrics he spits are genius. However it seems like he's just doing it for the commercialism now.

I mean look at his older stuff:

    kim
    hailies song
    my dads gone crazy
    rabbit run
    white america
    the way i am
    etc etc

and compare it to his new album recovery which by my reckoning had three of what I would consider classic Eminem - "You're never over" "Almost Famous" and "Going Through Changes"

It's sad, in my opinion to see what he's become compared to what he was but still much respect to the fella.
