Leaking Toilet

One of our toilets (en suite) is leaking from the cistern into the main toilet bowl. It has been doing this for a number of weeks but it was a silent leak and didn't bother us at all. Last night it began to drip and now we have a constant noise of flowing water. I'm not sure if it has gotten worse (ie. leaking more water) or if it has just become more noisy.

The toilet has a push button flush. We opened it up, lowered the stopcock but no joy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What was suggested above didn't work. Think it may be a valve... I think :o

could be the push button siphon isnt sealing properly, you can twist it (its the middle part) and lift it out, check theres no dirt etc. around the washer, also u could try and turn the washer upside down as sometimes it domes too much so doesnt seal properly

the ball cock is coming up to high
so the water gets higher than the overflow
you need to adjust, bend down the ball

but really you gotta get a new valve , there about a fiver
just the valve your old ball is fine (save about 2 quid)

    you need a stencil/ adjustable
a roll of plumbing tape (less than 1 euro)
    20mins should do the job
