deicer to defrost pipes?

    would car windscreen deicer be any good to defrost a 32 mm pvc pipe?
    Put this in motors forum but no response maybe should have put here

    It'll do nothing to defrost what's frozen inside the pipe. It's only when it comes in direct contact with the ice that it becomes active.

    Hairdryer or a kettle of boiling water is your best bet...
