Normally I would but in this weather I won't
I'm due a baby in 2 weeks so I don't want to chance driving too far
    Limerick would have been perfect

    Ah well :(

Thanks for the quick response guys

Does it have to be M&S - there's a new Mothercare shop opened up in the Crescent. (no I don't work for them and haven't been in)

    Mothercare = MADLY expensive
    M&S = better value

But it looks like i'll end up in mothercare now anyway
Handy to know they are in the crescent much more accessible than cruises street

Roads to Cork are fine and they have 2 M&S
Roads to Clonmel are ok as far as Clonmel. I drove as far as Carrick on Suir this morning so I can confirm it.
Roads to Galway are fine but M&S is crap.
Roads to Athlone are dreadful. Dont bother.

For the distance you could drive, spend on fuel. Stay local and buy local.

I agree, it's important to stay local, the government are doing their best to kill the region so we should try and support local businesses all the more.

Roads may be fine for the ordinary joe soap its a wee bit different when you are heavily pregnant :D
I don't mind going to Limerick as I am booked into Munchins for the babs anyway but don't really want to wander any further afield

As for buying local I would if I could get what I wanted in Ennis but there are no maternity shops stocking what I wanted so I'll be off to mothercare next week

What exactly is it you want? Is mothercare the only place that has it? The stuff I've seen in mothercare - clothes, bottles, teethers, carseats, buggies, etc, are all available elsewhere.

I agree with the sentiment of buying local, but only in local stores or businesses where the prices are not on the pay through the nose level.

Rip off merchants, local or otherwise should be shunned.

Yes but we should all be pre conditioned by this stage to know the value of things. I was a Teenager during the 90's. I didn't know the value of anything FFS!!

Now I appreciate a bargain. M&S does not really go for the bargain angle but in saying that if you want a good quality shirt then M&S is the place to go. Currently, due to circumstances a €9 shirt and tie combo in Pennys or Dunnes does me just fine.

M&S do a great Coffee if you're looking for one. My employer roasts it for them.

We also buy our specific Christmas cards in M&S. The ones for parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters. Everybody else just gets the generic cards in the box.

We did ALL our Christmas shopping in Newbrigde with a quick stop off in the Kildare outlet village. I recommened those two places to EVERYBODY!

Nice Rebook Fleece/Winter Jacket for €14 down from €70. Picked up 3. 2 for gifts. :D (yoink). In fact we nearly cornered the guy with the pricing gun to see where he was going next and reducing what. :D

M&S in Newbridge is very nice. 70+ shops in the centre as well.

NOTE I appreciate that contradicts my shop local thing but we planned to buy everything in one day and we knew that Kildare and Newbridge had everything we wanted.

You could try Debenhams (old Roches Stores) in the city or Shaws in the Crescent for those items. Don't buy them cheap - they'll need to be of a good quality.

Good luck with the pending arrival - when's the big day?:D

Official due date is the 19th but am hoping to go a bit early :D
Don't really fancy parking in Arthurs Quay and walking to Debenhams I know its a 5 minute walk but walking is kinda difficult ;)

Off to the crescent for me methinks
